3D PrintingWith today's CAD systems, many products can be visualized by the customer without them having to understand a blueprint, as was necessary in years past. Many times this will suffice.

Another approach is to send the computer file to a "prototype burner" of sorts. The file produces one part at a time. This allows the customer to actually pick up and hold a 3D representation of their product. This can be useful for parts with a great deal of detail which is hard to identify or visualize otherwise. It's downfall of course is that it only produces one part at a time.

3D PrintingThe process we prefer is to produce a "prototype mold", usually from tooling quality aluminum. This mold will produce actual plastic parts, and many times will produce enough parts to determine if the project is feasible.

For example: we have a customer who's goal is to test a market with the initial release of a product, but cannot afford to produce a production mold at this time. Another example might be a customer who needs a series of parts which will actually be used in limited production to test a final assembly of several parts. In any event, the "prototype mold" produces real parts at a fraction of the cost of a finished mold and helps customers make changes (if necessary), prior to producing the production mold.

From Cradle to Grave

We offer a range of product development solutions from Proof of your concept, Functional Testing, right into production Cost reductions.

3D PrintingWe can supply you with Part modeling, 3D printing, to a prototype mold in some cases as quick as 1 week. Our 3D printing capabilities allow you to have a sample in your hand in normally 24 hours from handing off the 3D model!!!

3D Printing allows everyone in your Team to review the concepts. In turn, the company gets better feedback, resulting in a better product. 3D printing allows companies to achieve real time collaboration on a global scale. Successful product design requires review and input from many sources. 3D models have proven time and time again to be great marketing tools. ABS models can be sanded, painted, and chrome plated. Imagine showing a customer a part in as little day from their idea or 3D model. You are able to place a real-life product into someone's hands in a day. Now that's impressive!

The approach used to produce a prototype will vary from shop to shop.

Our approach is to identify customer expectations.

Does a "real" part need to be produced? How many? How often? Will the part change often?

We identify costs as well as limitations. Our goal is to help the customer see what their design will look like and how it will function. This process often times helps both the customer and us to identify design suggestions or possible flaws.

RMS Prototyping Capabilities

Rapid Mold Solutions offers a completion solution to Product Development. Our Talented Design Staff is capable of handling all aspects of your product development from Design, Validations, and supplying samples. We like to explain this process as:

IDEA + RMS = Reality

At the beginning of a project we discuss and get to know what your requirements are. We listen and help with all aspects from "Cradle to Grave" we like to call this process. We help to ensure that once you prototype you can also see these results with your production. We are here to launch and ensure a smooth transition into production. We match your requirements with an Accelerated Time to market approach. We understand the values of being on time and within the budget.
